The journey led across the Mediterranean to Egypt, through the Suez Canal to the Red Sea, to Ceylon, Singapore, Java, Siam, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Canton, Shanghai, Beijing, Kiautschou, Japan, San Francisco and New York.
