Original imitation batik bindings (some spines sl. discoloured), top edges gilt.Decorative printed cotton with motifs derived from Indonesian batiks, produced mechanically by the Leidsche Katoenmaatschappij (1836-1936) was also used in book bindings, with a great variety of motifs. Bookbindings of simulated batik were supplied by various publishers.
