It appears to have been the first description in print of Australia, and perhaps of California, Terra del Fuego, and other territories in the New World. With Appendix on the endeavor to discover Terra Australis Incognita, or the Southern continent. This curious discourse on Terra Australis describes its supposed immense size to be as large as Europe, Asia and Africa (Cox II, p.339).
