He has known personally every Labour Prime Minister from Ramsay MacDonald to Callaghan and met most Heads of State in Africa and Asia over the last three decades, including Nehru, Sukarno, Nasser, Haile Selassie, Nkrumah, Hussein, Indira Gandhi, Ho Chi Minh, Nyerere and Kenneth Kaunda. One of the most controversial yet affectionately regarded politicians of the Left, Lord Brockway has written a fascinating "description of his life and times.
