This is a photocopy of a book originally written for private distribution in 1954 & filmed by the National Library of Scotland in 1964 for a customer's order. He has written the following inscription on the fep: "To the Cambridge John Kirkpatrick (with fond memories of the stranger being welcomed lnto the family reunion of Sunday 9 April 1967) from the New Haven John Kirkpatrick New Years Eve 31.12.77)". The Kirkpatricks of Closeburn, in Dumfriesshire, Scotland, trace their family back to Ivone, who witnessed a Charter for Robert Brus (or Bruce), first Lord of Annandale. Roger 'mak siccar ' Kirkpatrick was a close associate of the later Robert Bruce, who became King of Scotland. The family's connections extend through the Isle of Wight to France and Spain. The photocopy quality of the illustrations leaves much to be desired but the text is reproduced well. First Thus. Size: 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. 134 pages.
