Five of these cover the period from the earliest times down to the middle of the 1st millennium B.C. - the era of the primary exploration and exploitation of the land and its resources - and the other five cover the remaining half millennium, beginning at the time of the arrival of the earliest Celtic peoples & continuing up to the arrival of the Romans during the 1st century A.D.
