Description: Lovell's Court, Paternoster Row, London, James Blackwood & Co. 1872, First Edition Thus. Decorated Cloth, Sm 8vo. Hardback, 125mm x 180mm tall (5" x 7" approx.). Pp xvi, 416, with a tissue-guarded engraved frontispiece plate, title-leaf vignette and plus two further engraved plates. Undated, but the only copy recorded on COPAC, that of the British Library, is stated to be 1872. Black-printed bookplate of a contemporary owner, one J.F. Coop of Abingdon Street, Blackpool, to the front pastedown and a "JFC" monogram stamp impression to the upper free corners of both the front free endpaper and the blank recto of the frontispiece. Blank sides of the first and last leaves toned and two pages carelessly opened, otherwise very good, in the original gilt & black-decorated, green cloth-covered boards/gilt titles. Very Good/Later loose protective Jacket.
