Pp xxi, 701 + 6pp Publisher's adverts. with tissue-guarded frontispiece portrait and 82 other illustrations. Undated, but stated by COPAC to be 1899. Light rubs to edges and corners and a little patchiness and bruising to spine cloth. Otherwise good to very good, in the original red cloth/gilt spine title with, also gilt, the top edges & the heraldic device to front board [ motto: Clarior E Tenebris ]. Rubber stamp impressions to front endpapers "Archibald Constable & Co - File Copy". A very heavy volume, for which some additional postage may be required. Good/Later loose protective Jacket.
