Theodore Roosevelt was an associate editor for The Outlook, publishing his first article March 6, 1909. An invaluable contemporary view into the zeitgeist of the Progressive Era and the administrations of Theodore Roosevelt, Taft & Wilson. In this article TR answers charges that as President, he was complicit in assisting, U. S. Steel in acquiring the Tennessee Coal & Iron Company. This acquisition was part of a financial plan that helped abate the Panic of 1907. TR's dealings in this matter were all above board and he never profited personally from the transaction. Other articles of interest in this issue; What Is A Republican State, The Recall; Japan's Next Turn. Very good + .
