These volumes, hardly ever found complete on the market, contain contributions by many famous, mainly Swiss scientists: Albert de Haller, Emmanuel König, Daniel Bernoulli, Joh. Rudolf Zwinger, J.H. Lambert, Joh. Henr. Respinger, Joh. Rod. Stehelin, Joh. Georg Zimmermann, Gagnebin, J.J. d'Apples, Laur. Theod. Gronovius, etc., etc. Originally these series were started by famous physicians from Basle. Eversince they developed into a kind of learned society. The articles include writings on most remarkable scientific matters (such as, in vol. 3, a larger contribution on the thermometer and the barometer in relation to Fahrenheit, Newton and Réaumur), many practical observations, and many contributions to Swiss natural history (cf. Haller). The volumes were published in 1751-55-58-60-62-67-77-87. Collation of each volume: 1) 4 leaves (incl. titlepage) + 104 p. + 1 folded table (Bouguer: Hauteurs des Montagnes du Pérou) + 5 plates ; 72 p. + 1 plate. 2) 4 leaves (1 blanc) + 272 p. + 12 plates (numbered: Tab.
