Dated 119 East Chestnut St., Leadville, Colo., Oct. 8th, 1880. Together with an original pencil drawing, 4 1/2 x 6 1/2 inches of Mount Massive, and original small envelope with 3-cent stamp and Leadville postmark. Louis notes "I also enclose to you a lead-pencil sketch of Mount Massive...it does give a fair idea of the mountain, as seen partially over the house-tops, from Bunsen's office, i.e., the agency of the Penna. Lead Co. in the _third_ story of the Quincy Block (Room 26). The sketch represents just what I could see looking west through the window, and between the bottom of the curtains as it then hung & the top of the lower window-frame...." "Dolph [his brother] has quit sampling for the present....and has gone down to Malta again, engaged in the preparation of Bunsen & Fohr's smelter there....I was down at Malta yesterday...to find what they require yet for my laboratory there which they are going to fix up in a day or two now...." Interesting letter of mining engineer or chemist and neat, detailed drawing showing upper story and roof of neighboring building, Mt. Massive behind.
