Title: Why Not the Best?
Description: Nashville, TN, Broadman Press, (1977). Hardcover. There appear to have been several different issues of this book. This is the issue with all edges gilt and the words "Presidential Edition" blacked out on the title page. Issued without dustwrapper in a gold box with a plastic cover and bound in full gilt-decorated green cloth made to resemble leather. Illustrated with drawings and photographs, including many in color. A limited edition of Carter's first autobiography, first published in 1975 in a trade edition in dustwrapper when Carter was campaigning for the Presidency. This copy is INSCRIBED to ---- and SIGNED by the author as "Jimmy Carter" on the front free endpaper and is also INSCRIBED "Best Wishes" and SIGNED by Rosalynn Carter. The president's full signature also appears on the title page, but this is printed in every copy, despite what some of our more unscrupulous and/or uninformed colleagues say.
