Description: London, H.Hills 1709 . Small Octavo disbound 16pp usual paper tabbing with last page abit more so. Atribution of the Kit-Cats to Richard Blackmore is made by Halkett and Laing. This is the second of Hill's pirated editions, the first being in 1708. These poems also appeared in anthologies for example in "A Collection of the best English Poetry, by several hands" published in 1717 and again later in S.J.Pratt's "Cabinet of Poetry" etc. Foxon B262 ESTC T29488 *Named the Kit-Cats after the so called Kit-Cat club, a whig-protestant club promoting a limited-monarchy and a strong parliament. Named so because their meetings were held in a London tavern run by Christopher Catt, who`s mutton pies became known as "Kit-Cats".
