This work contains a mass of information about the ancient world, related in dialogues between "dining philosophers" in 15 Books on a wide range of subjects - "Book XIII, for example, is an important source for the study of sexuality in classical and Hellenistic Greece" (Wikipedia). Page 2-998pp + [39pp] of 3 indexes. This second book is also an early description of the banquets and the dining habits of the guests. There is accompaning music, dancing, and games. Athenaeus lists many hundreds of party references with foods and Greek authors that would otherwise be lost to us today.
