Quarto blue gilt pictorial cloth (rebacked with old spine retained corners worn & bumped) All Edges Gilt and all pages interleaved with blanks. Neat ownership R.L. Chance 1874 at head of titlepage. Half title +illustrated titlepage +80pp (recte 79 since 49 & 50 are on same page) +[6]pp publisher's adverts. Half title and titlepage mildly foxed, a few signs of use, some 5 or so pages with pale minor foxing, else all blanks & other pages white & good. *Dicky Doyle was the son of the caricaturist John Doyle and uncle of Arthur Conan Doyle. He will be remembered for his design of the cover of Punch magazine with Mr. Punch & Toby his dog, he also illustrated some of Dickens' Christmas books & Ruskin's In Fairyland among a goodly output.
