Each section has a half titles and 6 plates with text on the back. The pictures all show several animals in naturalistic scenery. There is a very nice Reward inscription to front endpaper from teacher Clara M Bennet. Library Stamp on cover page. The series was also issued with the same date as single parts in soft covers under the series title "Birds and Animal series". Author may have been the New York based writer Josephine Pollard (1834-1892).
