Gilt title on red panel, and gilt bars and fleurons to spine. Light crackling to spine. Very light rubbing to extremities. Green toned paper. Light tideline on bottom of foldout map. Previous owner's name in ink to top of title page. Spine and hinges are tight; pages still crisp. In 1777, George Taylor and Andrew Skinner surveyed and mapped the roads of Ireland and published their results the following year. A second edition of the Maps was printed in 1783. The maps were engraved by Garnet Terry. The strip maps were welcomed for their accuracy and for showing details of roads and crossroads, naming landlords and their houses and outlining topographical features. Very Good Plus .
