The proceedings herein present all of the major papers presented to the Congress as well as the lively discussions which the preentations inspired. Among topics ciscussed are the social organization of scientific research, state subsidies, scientific freedom, the position of the scientist in a totalitarian state, the philosophic foudnations of free inquiry, etc. The only blemish to the book itself is a curved scratch to back board. Minor spotting to endpapers, top- and fore-edges. Edgewear and sunning to dust jacket. 295 pp., NEAR FINE /VERY GOOD.
